Commercial EB and E Immersion Heaters

The Adveco EB and E series are a range of electric immersion heaters and kits for use with water heating systems. Ideally suited as primary or backup heat sources in a wide variety of applications, they are an excellent choice for low carbon top up heating when paired with renewables. Installation of supplementary electric immersion heaters also grants a reliable level of reserve heating capacity in the event of a primary heat source failure.

Electric Immersion Heater Design: Features & Key Technologies

Options

Adveco’s Immersion heaters boast a Nicalloy 825 sheath with stainless-steel flange and gasket. Connecting directly into the clean-out access or side port of its compatible range of tanks, they are capable of reaching operating temperatures of up to 90°. The EB and E rangers offer a choice of 25 electric immersions with outputs ranging from 3 to 36 kW and operating pressures up to 6 and 10 bar.

All heater kits additionally contain the required Control thermostat & overheat cut-out thermostat and pockets for use with the heating elements as standard. All heating elements are available in multiple flange sizes or as standalone elements, allowing maximum compatibility with a large number of vessels.

Immersions with dual heating circuits (EB0027) supply electrical output through its primary circuit, with a secondary circuit providing a variable heating intensity based on periods of demand, for use with differential tariff supplies, or to provide 50% redundancy backup to the primary immersion heater circuit, depending upon how it is controlled. This ensures a continuous supply of hot water even in the event of a primary heater failure, virtually guaranteeing a hot water supply so long as there is power to the building.

Additional Options

  1. Pocket mounted combination control & overheat thermostat for primary heater
  2. E0049 Control Panel with auto-changeover function in event of a fault & BMS fault output

Additional Information

  1. Multiple immersions can be used
  2. Not recommended as a primary heat source in hard water areas
  3. Electric immersions are easy to install/replace but should be regularly maintained
  4. For electric as a primary heat source or for electric heating in harder water areas Adveco recommends use of an indirect ARDENT electric boiler.

What is an immersion heater?

An immersion heater is an electric heating element that sits directly in a hot water cylinder or buffer vessel, heating the stored water by direct contact rather than through an external heat exchanger. It’s used either as the primary heat source in a fully electric system, or as a backup and redundancy measure alongside a boiler, heat pump, or other primary heat source.

The problem immersion heaters solve

Every heat source can fail, and in a hot water system with no backup, that means a building with no hot water until it’s fixed. A supplementary immersion heater gives a building continuity: if the primary heat source goes down, the immersion can carry the load, whether that’s a scheduled maintenance window or an unplanned failure. The EB0027’s dual-circuit design takes this further, building 50% redundancy directly into a single unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

An electric heating element that sits directly in a cylinder or buffer vessel, heating water by direct contact, used as a primary or backup heat source.
25 models across the EB and E ranges, from 3 to 36 kW, at operating pressures up to 6 and 10 bar.
Yes, that’s one of their most common uses, giving continuity of hot water supply if the primary heat source fails.
A model with two heating circuits, a primary circuit for main output and a secondary circuit for variable intensity or 50% redundancy backup, useful with differential tariffs or as insurance against primary heater failure.
Adveco doesn’t recommend immersion heaters as a primary heat source in hard water areas; for electric heating in harder water, an indirect ARDENT electric boiler is the recommended alternative.

They connect directly into the clean-out access or side port of a compatible tank, using a stainless steel flange and gasket.
